Children Receiving Services as Children in Need

SCOPE OF THIS CHAPTER

Section 17 of the Children Act 1989 imposes a general duty on Children's Services to safeguard and promote the welfare of children who are assessed to be 'in need'.

The guidance should be read in conjunction with Right Help, Right Time, Birmingham Safeguarding Children Partnership's framework for identifying and responding to children's needs.
